🔔 Draft executive order outlines plan to integrate AI into K-12 schools
Context: On April 24, President Trump signed an executive order titled “Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth.” This initiative aims to integrate AI into K-12 education by establishing a White House Task Force on AI education.
Point of interest: The order also introduces a “Presidential AI Challenge” to engage students and educators in AI-related projects.
Why it matters: Promoting AI literacy and encouraging relevant public-private partnerships are some of the thorniest questions surrounding AI development. They quite literally shape the future generation.

IMF’s “power hungry” report details how AI will drive energy demand
Context: On April 22, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) analyzed how AI-driven data center growth “affects electricity consumption, electricity prices, and carbon emission.”
How it worked: The team used descriptive statistics and a “multi-country computable general equilibrium model (IMF-ENV).”
Notable stat: “Under current energy policies, AI shock raises the average annual growth rate of global GDP by 0.5 percentage point between 2025 and 2030. Under alternative energy policies, these benefits are slightly diminished due to the implementation of the feed-in tariff policy.”
Why it matters: With DC Climate Week happening right now, the conversations around policy, AI, and sustainability will be more relevant than ever.
